Happy New Year - A time to get active
As people start to think about the start of a New Year, we'd like to be the first to wish you all the best for 2014!
All this talk of New Year's resolutions got us thinking, so we put together a quick article for your reading pleasure.
It’s a well know fact that exercise, in almost any form, can be a stress reliever, but, have you ever wondered why?
Clients often come to us for one off activities and end up coming back time and time again (hopefully in part this is due to good customer service) but people often come and say they just enjoy being active, having the change to get out in the fresh air and escaping from the stresses of work.
So, what is the connection between exercise and stress?
An opportunity for time out. After you have been exercising or on an adventurous activity, you will find it has taken your mind off the stresses of life. Removing irritations by concentrating on your body’s movement can help you stay focused, calm and have a clearer outlook in the things that you do.
Exercise releases endorphins. Any type of physical activity can help relieve stress by the production of your brains feel-good neurotransmitters, commonly these are known as endorphins. What that really means is getting out and being active, whether climbing, walking, caving, biking can help you feel better!
Let's make 2014 one to remember; set small targets and achievable goals, you don’t have to start by walking up Kilimanjaro! Walk to the top of that hill, get out for a bike ride once a week, or try a new activity. It's really that easy!
If you’re looking for a new challenge in 2014, don’t be afraid to get in touch. We would love the opportunity to take you on an adventure of your own BIG or small. We’re also running lots of open courses throughout the year; a great opportunity to meet new people and get active.
We're looking forward to seeing new faces and old in the year ahead.
Thank you for your support, have an adventerous New Year.
The Dolomite Team.
